Digital Privacy Detectives

Digital Privacy Detectives

Authors: Caroline Hardin & Jen Dalsen

Imagine an embarrassing photo of your friend was circulated to everybody in school — how would you respond?

Digital Privacy Detectives is a choose your own adventure game that offers K-12 students an opportunity to learn strategies for tackling digital privacy through community support. Players search for clues online (and throughout each station) in this whodunnit mystery. By the end of the game, students make a decision on who they believe circulated the photo and write down a piece of advice for their peers to consider. Most importantly, we ask students how they can help family, friends, and classmates protect their privacy online.

Workshop presented at r00tz (Defcon), CornCon, and Games for Change (G4C).
